Whitsunday Getaway

As holiday season rolls in and I hang up my university hat for the time being, a getaway seemed in order. As someone whose recent travels have mainly been overseas, it was time to explore my own backyard here in Queensland a little better.

The Mirage Whitsundays. This place was breathtaking. Our apartment was spacious and beautifully designed. There are two great pools on site, and a spa, gym, and restaurant are coming early next year. The block is right on the water, and so close to everything you need.

Have a drink at the Coral Sea Resort as you watch the sun set over the ocean. Get an insanely relaxing massage and facial at Intuitive Massage in Cannonvale. Rent standup Paddle Boards at Shingley Beach and go turtle watching. Book a cruise to Whitehaven Beach to experience the most amazing white sand and blue water you will ever see. Read a book by the pool and do not much else for hours. Go island-hopping. Lace up your runners and go on a rainforest or bush walk. Rent a yacht.

Fat Frog beach cafe does great coffee and an amazing fish taco. Mr Bones whips up a delicious pizza, and Barcelona Airlie Beach does ace Spanish Tapas with an amazing view.

Shopping was not on the agenda for this tropical getaway. You can buy the typical swimmers, thongs, and groceries around the area, however nothing grand.

Togs, a tonne of sunscreen, a good book, easy beach frocks and throw-ons, and an ace broad-brimmed hat. And your most relaxed, chilled-out self, of course.
