New York Fashion Week Highlights

New York Fashion Week has drawn to a close yet again and oh the damage this season’s looks could cause to my attempts to save money.

There wasn’t a single detail I didn’t absolutely froth at Rag and Bone. From the slicked back hair, defined brows and coral lips all the way down to the chunky heel and flatform encapsulated feet. Striking white and black silhouettes in mesh and silk combined with bright turquoise and nude pieces made for what is mutually agreed to be one of the top shows of the week.

I’m not normally one to rave about DKNY but this season….boy oh boy have the tides turned. Models also rocked a coral lip on the DKNY runway but in a very sporty chic sense. Black runners and caps adorned crisp white blazers, hooded jackets, denim bermuda shorts and paisley dresses. In love mega time.

Alexander Wang proved yet again that he is Style God re-incarnated. Monochromic, laser-cut separates, sexy camis, asymmetric cut tees and Miss Jagger in that Parental Advisory shirt; the collection is sure to be a raging success.

Metallic crop tops paired with wide-legged culottes, flowing pinstripe skirts  were the go to for Proenza Schouler.

Alien-like and über futuristic patterns, reflective shades and dominated the runway at 3.1 Phillip Lim. There were cool-cut necklines, cropped jackets, white capes and printed pants. Somehow, it all just worked.

Narciso Rodriguez proved that taking it all back to basics could be seriously sexy and oh-so appealing. Minimalist black and white crops and skirts in maxi and mini cuts were offset with occasional brocade piece.

Reed Krakoff unequivocally nailed it. Loosely tailored, all white ensembles (knee-length skirts, flowing pants, dresses and long blazers all made an appearance) with hints of sorbet yellow? Hell to the yes.

Adios savings, hello sexy summer wardrobe!
